How Severn Trent is investing £29m in the Worcestershire
community to benefit future generations.

Worcester is growing fast, and Severn Trent is ensuring its water and waste network is growing with it.

This special podcast episode highlights the three major water and wastewater projects being rolled out in and around the Broadheath, Lower Wick, Dines Green and St Johns areas, which will bring huge benefits for customers and the environment across wider Worcester.

We talk to Severn Trent’s Gareth Mead, head of the River Rangers, and Community Communications Manager Laura Holloway, who acknowledge how locals have faced supply issues and disruption from bursts in the past. They explore why this work matters and how it will future‑proof services for thousands of homes and businesses and the long‑term benefits for the River Severn. They also discuss how the company has worked closely with the community to minimise disruption while we complete these works, including keeping local people informed, supported, and moving.

From replacing 16 km of ageing water mains to upgrading Worcester’s Sewage Treatment Works and preparing the water and waste network for more than 2,500 new homes, this episode breaks down the huge improvements shaping the city’s future, along with the villages surrounding it.

You’ll also hear about traffic management plans, community drop‑ins, and the best ways to stay updated throughout the year, including by visiting stwater.co.uk and searching for ‘Built For Worcestershire’.
