Be Safe Around Water

Enjoying our beautiful beaches, rivers and lakes is best done safely throughout the summer. Playing in the water and swimming are excellent for our health and a terrific way to cool off on hot days.
However, water accidents occur throughout the summer. June, July, and August account for around half of all drowning deaths. Therefore, even when the sun is shining and the water appears more appealing than ever, it is imperative to remain watchful.
- The most common places for drowning deaths are nearby rivers and lakes. Therefore, even if you're local to your home, you should still exercise caution.
- The water may look inviting, but cold water shock can seriously impair your breathing and swimming abilities if you enter cold water quickly. either our lives or someone else's.
- A refreshing beer on the riverbank may sound appealing. However, it might cloud your judgement and raise the possibility of an accident.
