Appeal for witnesses following fatal vehicle fire
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man sadly died when his vehicle caught fire outside Bromsgrove Police and Fire Station on Sunday.
The incident happened at around 7.30am when a white Mercedes Sprinter van pulled into the car park for the station on Slideslow Drive before catching fire.
Sadly the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detective Inspector Gareth Lougher said: “We would like to reassure the community that we believe this to be an isolated incident, with no further threat to the public.
“Investigations to establish what happened this morning are now underway, and we would encourage anyone who may have seen the vehicle in the area around the time of the incident to contact police.
“This is a terribly sad incident and our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time.”
Parts of Slideslow Drive, which were closed shortly after the incident have now reopened.
