Worcestershire tourism businesses focus on building for the future

Tourism business in the county have gathered at the Museum of Royal Worcester to hear from guest speakers about opportunities post lockdown.

As part of the newly set up tourism network, last week businesses met at the Museum of Royal Worcester to hear from a range of speakers talk about growth in the sector.

The event included talks from Vikki Green and Rochelle Zare from the West Midlands Safari Park and Becky Frall Head of Visitor Attraction at the West Midlands Growth Company, who spoke about how Worcestershire can gain from the opportunities the Commonwealth Games will bring to the region.

Facilitated by Visit Worcestershire, the tourism network is a growing group of businesses and organisations in Worcestershire looking at ways to make the county a great place to visit.

Councillor Marc Bayliss, cabinet member with responsibility for Economy and Skills at Worcestershire County Council said, "The Visit Worcestershire Tourism Network events are a wonderful opportunity for tourism businesses in the county to meet each other and work towards a shared goal of continuing to make Worcestershire a fantastic place for tourists.

"I would encourage tourist facing organisations and businesses to sign up for future events as these are valuable for us growing a strong tourism economy as we move out of the pandemic."

Anita Hill, from the Museum of Carpet said, "It was great to attend the Visit Worcestershire event this morning and to hear about the opportunities there are to develop tourism in the county."

The next event will focus on exceeding customer expectations and will be held at Severn Valley Railway in Kidderminster on 18 January 2022.

Guest speakers will include Visit England who will be sharing their expertise, drawing on tourism best practise across the country, and Severn Valley Railway, who will be speaking about how they have used great customer experience to strengthen their business.
